Abstract

© 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. All rights reserved. This chapter introduces two advanced multivariate statistical procedures that are becoming increasingly influential in environment-behavior research: multi-level modeling and structural equation modeling. The chapter provides an overview of fundamental concepts, and describes common types of research questions that can be addressed using each procedure. Practical issues related to sample size and statistical power are discussed, and recommendations for further reading are provided. Our treatment of these topics is conceptual, with little emphasis on underlying mathematics and statistical formulae.
