Abstract
Agent technology has shown promise in the area of information management and is therefore a good candidate for knowledge management solutions. Intelligent agents have thus played diverse roles in knowledge management systems, as assistants, recommenders, user trackers, etc. Intelligent agents
have also been used in frameworks or architectures whose development was intended to make the implementation of knowledge management systems easier.
It is on this point that we are going to focus in this paper. Many of these architectures and frameworks were developed from a technical point of view, forgetting the knowledge tasks that they should support. Bearing this in mind, we designed a knowledge life cycle which can be taken into account when developing knowledge management systems. Moreover, in this paper we describe a generic multi-agent architecture (based on the knowledge cycle) to help developers to implement knowledge management systems.
