Abstract

Calculations of the F absorption band of mixed crystals of the NaCl structure, such as KCl-KBr and KCl-RbCl, were carried out using the classical semicontinuum models proposed originally by Simpson and Krumhansl-Schwartz. The values of the F band shift are small and do not depend on the concentration, indicated by the experimental results for these mixed crystals. The possibility of obtaining better theoretical results using ion-size correction is considered.
