Abstract

In a plane deformation problem, a point source of oscillations located in a homogeneous elastic half-space overlain by two liquid layers of different densities radiates longitudinal harmonic waves. Waves at the interfaces between the elastic medium and lower liquid layer and between the upper and lower liquid layers are studied to the linear approximation. It is assumed that the wavelengths are vastly greater than the thicknesses of the liquids, and the upper liquid is covered by a rigid lid. The vertical displacements of the interfaces were determined. Analytical methods realized by computer algebra tools were mainly used.
