Abstract

© 2014 Portland International Conference on Management of Engineering and Technology. Research and citation performance was thoroughly surveyed at the Universidad de Sonora (UNISON), the largest state public university in Sonora, México. Bibliometric analysis for 2000-2009 indicated the faculty published 812 peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. These were cited 8033 times, meaning an average of 10 citations per paper, 691 (85% of the articles) accounted for all the citations. A high number of foreign researcher coauthors indicated a strong international collaboration, with the USA representing the majority. International co-authorship produced higher citation rates. Results determined the most cited publications, most productive faculty members, and most productive research fields. These findings are important for planning research activities and policies at the Universidad de Sonora.
