The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship among career factors, vocational security, and academic success. The sample included 229 students coursing the first semester of psychology and chemistry of the University of Sonora, Mexico. The instrument used was the Comprehensive Scale of Career Factors (IAFC). Descriptive analyses were conducted and a structural model was specified and tested. This model explained 10% of the variance of academic success and 33% of vocational security, Goodness of fit indicators suggest that the tested model is appropriate. Results suggest the development of educational technology and the use of diagnostic instruments allowing differentiating insecure from secure students.
