Abstract

The thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and heat capacity of mixed crystals of KC11-X,BrX:Eu2+ (0 ≤ X ≤ 1) were obtained using the open photoacoustic cell technique and the temperature-rise method. The thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity show a nonlinear behavior as a function of the concentration X. This behavior is explained by the disorder in the material due to the random distribution of the C1 and Br atoms in the lattice sites. The Eu2+ dopant does not affect the composition dependence of these thermal properties.
