Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze, through a comparative design, the variables associated with changes in the academic profession model in Mexican teacher training institutions. It is a research with a quantitative, cross-sectional and causal-comparative approach, carried out with a sample of 312 full-time academics. The collection of information was carried out using the survey technique; a questionnaire designed on an online platform was applied. The questionnaire was designed based on the characteristics and conditions of the academics. An analysis was made of the dimensions of academic career, dedication in hours to academic functions, academic identity, research assessment, teaching assessment and willingness to change. The results show that the identification of the participants with specific traits that define the academic identity of the trainer of trainers is in the process of reconfiguring certain dimensions linked to academic trajectories, dedication and perception of the value of research activities. The methodological design allows us to infer that the changes that are taking place in the academic profession of teacher educators are directly related to obtaining the recognition of the stimulus programs.. Finally, we reflect on the homologation generated by the orientation of policies and the General Law of Higher Education on the Teaching Training Colleges subsystem and the effects this has on the model of the academic profession.
