Abstract

Psychological research in the field of learning requires instruments, strategies and techniques that facilitate diagnoses relevant to the needs of acquiring lifelong learning. The present study aimed to explain the relationship between the three modes of human agency in Mexican and Colombian university students. A total of 568 students from four Higher Education Institutions agreed to participate in the study and answered the IASS. The results obtained allowed, in addition to corroborating the triadic relationship of the modes of agency measured, to determine that Mexican students presented a better profile agency in educational settings compared to Colombian students. Promoting autonomous learning through the collective and mediated agency mode and the use of IASS as a diagnostic tool to assess the level of agency in educational settings are also findings of this study.
