Abstract
The scattered light from a two layer system, metallic and dielectric films, with a shallow, random, one-dimension rough surface bounded by glass and vacuum is calculated in the transmission hemisphere. A scattering integral, obtained using the Rayleigh's hypothesis, is solved both by perturbation up to second order on the surface profile-function and numerically.
