Abstract

A microwave photonic filter based on a Sagnac fiber loop is presented. The frequency response is obtained by phase modulating the clockwise and counterclockwise propagating optical signals inside the Sagnac loop at different times. Experimental results match closely with the theoretical analysis. Finally two schemes for transmission process are proposed to demonstrate its application on optical telecommunications systems.
