Abstract

Currently, modern code reviews have become awidely adopted practice in large-scale software projects. Thisreview approach has shown significant benefits, such asimproving code quality, fostering collaboration in softwaredevelopment, and enhancing team members' understanding ofthe code. Additionally, they have garnered interest within thesoftware engineering community in the past decade. However,some literature reviews do not show information for usingmodern code reviews in small organizations. Thus, the aim ofthis research was to identify the extent to which modern codereviews are used in small organizations or projects, and whatassociated benefits they bring considering available informationin published articles. A systematic mapping study was carriedout and the results revealed limited documented evidence of theuse of modern code reviews in the context of smallorganizations. In conclusion, the results show researchopportunities for studying modern code reviews in the contextof small organizations.
