Resumen

Accessibility refers to the extent a system can be used by people with the widest range of capabilities. In the case of current web-based systems, where web pages can be built dynamically, some concerns have arisen about their accessibility. A major research area has studied accessibility of static web pages, but little research is focused on how dynamic web pages address accessibility recommendations. Thus, we developed Accessifier, a plug-in for Chrome browser, considering the Web Accessibility Initiative recommendations. We implemented requirements to assess accessibility of the following widgets: buttons, menu buttons, breadcrumbs, carousels, menu bars and modal dialogs. Accessifier was validated by assessing the widgets found in 15 popular websites. Our results showed that Accessifier can identify 87% of widgets and 75% of errors detected by the tool also were found by manual assessment. Thus, preliminary results showed that Accessifier can verify accessibility requirements for some web widgets.
