Resumen

Based on the Herpin theorem used to derive the equivalent parameters of a symmetric periodic multilayer of isotropic materials, we extend the method to consider 1-D photonic crystals, including magneto-optic anisotropic materials combined with thin films composed of dielectric or metallic materials. We demonstrate that it is possible to obtain the equivalent non-local components of the dielectric tensor associated with the magneto-photonic crystal that contains information on the band structure, and the EM fields interacting with these systems, and compare with those obtained by using the Rytov formalism valid only for the low-frequency regime.
