Resumen
Objective: To identify available articles on nursing in intensive care units of adults, as well as research trends published nationally and internationally related to the subject. Methodology: An integrative literature review, which aims to answer the following research question. What are the recent publications on nursing in intensive care? The search for the articles was made in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL, OVID y Proquest. The selection criteria were articles available in full text, in Spanish, published between January 2010 and November 2016, including in the title and / or summary the search terms "nursing", "intensive care unit" ", "nursing care". Results: The search yielded 14 articles. The analysis of the articles selected allowed to group the information into two dimensions, which are called 1) contribution to care management in the intensive care unit and 2) contribution to the discipline and specialized practice of the intensive care unit. Conclusions: The tendencies identified in research developed by nurses of intensive care units, contribute to strengthen the management of nursing care, discipline and practice.
