Resumen

Gold solvent extraction has not known the same degree of application because the available extractants. In recent years, several investigators have been evaluating guanidine-based extractants which meet specifications of extraction, selectivity and stripping. LIX°79 is a guanidine based extractant, well suited for typical gold cyanide liquors, with a basicity intermediate between common weak bases, such as Alamine 336, and the very strong base quaternary amines such as Aliquat 336. It has been shown that when hydrolyzed LIX°79, a guanidinde based extractant, is capable of exchanging cyanoanions within the pH range of 10 to 11.5 It shows good selectivity for the aurocyanide ion when compared to other cyanoanions, specifically, Cu, Fe and Zn. The order of selectivity obtained: Au > Ag > Zn > Cu > Fe Continuous circuit run indicate that a two-stage extraction, are recommended. AQ/ORG = 1/1 Overall process efficiency of 90%. One stripping stage 10/1 ratio. Stripping solution containing 0.1 M NaOH and 0.02 M NaCN A copper wash stage is recommended before gold stripping. Copper stripping at a pH 10.8 Gold stripping at a pH of 12.0 LIX°79 Extractant can be used in a SX circuit for concentrating gold into a small volume of strip solution which can be further treated by electrowinning.
