N2 - The neurovascular unit, composed of neurons, brain endothelial cells, and glial cells, regulates cerebral blood flow. Physical and chemical signals govern the physiology of the neurovascular unit within this cell network. This manuscript will briefly discuss recent evidence about the contribution of this cell network and its plethora of ion channels, to the leading cellular mechanisms involved in the physiology of the neurovascular unit.
