Resumen

One of the principal problems of measuring radon by TL detectors is the separation of a TL signal associated with alpha particles from the signal caused by the accompanying beta and gamma radiation. Usually for this purpose two TL detectors (thin and shielded) are used. Another solution to this problem consists of using two TL peaks of one detector with different dependences of sensitivity to the LET of ionising radiation. Such a two-peak method is used successfully in TL dosimetry mixed gamma-neutron fields. In this work the possibility of using the well known two-peak detectors Lif:Mg,Ti and CaF2:Tm for TL dosimetry of radon and its progeny products was investigated. It is shown that measurement of the energy fluence of alpha particles is possible at integral radon activities of more than 300 and 25 kBq.d.m-3 for the LiF:Mg,Ti and CaF2:Tm detectors respectively.
